dc.descriptionEl presente trabajo tiene como objetivo exponer las características y aplicaciones de un sistema de teledetección de reciente aplicación en Chile: LIDAR. Se comienza el trabajo describiendo y explicando globalmente el principio de funcionamiento (técnico) de LIDAR y toda la tecnología y equipamiento derivados de éste sistema. Luego se entrega una revisión bibliográfica referente a usos de LIDAR, extraída desde universidades, institutos, agencias gubernamentales (meteorológicas y territoriales, principalmente), fabricantes de éste tipo de sensores y empresas de servicios que ofrecen obtención de datos mediante sensoramiento LIDAR. Ésta revisión incluye experiencias en el extranjero con éste tipo de sistemas. Basándose en lo anterior, se presenta un análisis mencionando posibles aplicaciones en el área forestal en Chile. Finalmente se concluye acerca del análisis y el trabajo en general./ ABSTRACT: The following research was designed to analyze the characteristics and applications of a remote sensing system recently implemented in Chile: LIDAR. The research begins describing and explaining globally the principle of operation (technical) of LIDAR and all the technology and equipment arising from this system. Then a bibliographic review is provided concerning to uses of LIDAR, extracted from universities, institutes, government agencies (meteorological and territorial, mainly), manufacturers of this type of sensors and service companies that offer extraction of data sensing LIDAR. This review includes experiences abroad with this type of systems. Based in this, it gives an analysis mentioning possible applications of LIDAR in the forestall area in Chile. Finally it concludes in general, about the analysis and the research.
