An evaluation of the role of ozone, acid deposition, and other airborne pollutants in the forests of eastern North America
Abstract
Existing knowledge on air pollutants that occur in the forests of eastern North America is summarized and interpreted.Resolution is sought to the conflict between the prevailing scientific judgment that ozone and other oxidants are most likely to be damaging eastern forests and the prevailing public perception that acidic and acidifying substances are the most likely offenders.
